Match Report Parson's Green overcame a spirited fightback to claim all 3 points in a 13 goal thriller at a chilly South Park.

Goals from leading scorer David Andrews (2), John Nugent (2), Andy Desborough, Olaf Olgiati and Ashley Williams were enough to wrap up the points, despite a frantic fightback, and some comical defending by Parson's Green.

Parson's Green may have the excuse of a heavy weekend - Friday Night's Christmas Party, follwed by most of the squad sitting up until about 06.00 on Sunday morning to watch the Williams vs Klitschko fight, but overall the performance (in particular, second half) wasn't good enough!

Both teams turned up at a freezing South Park to find that the Groundsman had decided to have a lie-in, so there were no changing facilities.
Thankfully, Olaf (being the crafty Italian fellow he is!) climbed through an open window, and unlocked the door from the inside!  With only one small changing room between both teams, it got pretty cosy with about 30 people crammed into one space!

Parson's Green Manager Terry Pierson left Adam Andrews out, and reverted to a 3-5-2 formation, with Ashley Rose, Munchie Rose and Daniel Rose making up the defence.

Parson's Green began the game well, and got the ball down and played neat 2-touch football from the off!
They took the lead when Andy Desborough finished a fine move with a well struck effort, to give Parson's Green the perfect start.
The second goal wasn't far behind, when David Andrews rose unmarked from a pin-point Andy Desborough corner to head into the net and double the lead.
Desborough's corners were excellent throughout the game, and caused the visitors real problems.

Parson's Green continued to play some excellent football, and at times carved the Nottingham Old Boys defence to pieces.

Andy Desborough missed a glorious opportunity to add a third, when he blazed over the bar from about 8 yards out!

The third goal soon followed though, and what a peach it was!! Desborough whipped in a corner which wasn't dealt with, and it fell to Olaf Olgiati on the edge of the box, who let rip with a thunderous half-volley which screamed into the bottom corner of the net, through a pack of players to give Parson's Green their third goal in a great 15 minute spell.

Parson's Green could have been out of sight before the plucky visitors pulled a goal back when a speculative effort from the edge of the box trickled past a static Tom Sheen to give the visitors a glimmer of hope.
Quite how the ball managed to creep in is anyones guess, but despite the bitterly cold weather, Sheen appeared to be asleep when the shot came in!

Parson's Green pushed on, and restored the three goal cushion when David Andrews skipped past a last ditch tackle, and chipped the ball over the on-rushing 'keeper to see it flick in off the post.

Half-Time: Parson's Green 4-1 Nottingham Old Boys

At half-time, Manager Terry Pierson did something odd, he replaced a forward (Karim, who in honesty hadn't really got into the game) with Daniel Rose, and brought Adam Andrews into the back three.
With the team playing so well in the first half, and despite Sheen's error for the goal, there seemed to be need to change the team. In particular the defence.

The change seemed to completely disrupt the flow of the Parson's Green game, and the visitors pulled a goal back shortly after the break when a Nottingham Old Boys player was played onside by Olaf Olgiati and went on to finish.

The visitors then game themselves some real hope when some shocking "defending" (there wasn't any!) allowed their striker acres of room and time in the box from a throw-in, and he picked his spot to reduce the margin once more.

Parson's Green did get going again, and from an Adam Andrews free-kick, his brother David flicked the ball on to John Nugent who lifted the ball over the 'keeper with a deft little flick to rest
